Initiated on 14th October 1997, Bert, the name given to our work planning and control application, replaced the traditional paper-based system and associated filing cabinets. Bert has continually improved over its 25-year history through a succession of quality standards from; BS:5750 to the current standard ISO 9001 Quality Management. Recently the management focus has been to de-clutter and simplify its process.
Through this application, organisational structures (frameworks) are created, with the legal entity at the head down to the individual premise with access times. It also records the responsible persons for health and safety, who to contact on site for arranging access and the manager we send our reports to following each engineer's visit.
Job files are at the heart of our system, a folder where documents are grouped and stored. It contains work instructions based on the standard and terms of reference agreed upon in Stage One. Reoccurring job documents are created for each system type and visit as set out in the Technical Audit (stage 1).
Following the creation of the recurring job documents, assets are selected from the register and assigned the appropriate engineering task. This process compiles the T-cards to assist the planner and formalise the work instruction. Once completed, an overview of the annual maintenance plan, on a month-by-month basis, is visible through the Log-book Portal interface.
